Weight Loss Timeline Calculator
Estimate a planning window toward a lower goal weight, then recalibrate it with your own trend. This tool does not promise a date or diagnose health.
A timeline, not a deadline
Choose a pace, then check your real trend after 2–4 consistent weeks.
Method & evidence
How this planning window is calculated
This is a dynamic planning scenario, not a promise about your body or a personal medical calorie prescription.
01
Estimate starting energy
Mifflin–St Jeor estimates resting energy, then the selected activity tier estimates starting maintenance.
02
Simulate changing maintenance
The model recomputes estimated maintenance as simulated weight changes, so its effective deficit narrows over time.
03
Review real data
After 2–4 weeks, compare consistent meal logs and a 7-day weight trend before changing a plan.
Why not divide a fixed calorie number into a goal?
Weight change alters energy expenditure. Hall and colleagues developed dynamic models to reflect that; this tool follows that principle by updating its Mifflin-based maintenance estimate daily. It is a simplified product simulation, not the NIH Body Weight Planner and not an individual prediction. [2]
What do the pace labels mean?
Gentle, Standard and Faster are transparent planning scenarios of 0.25%, 0.5% and 0.75% of starting body weight per week. CDC describes gradual loss of about 1–2 lb/week as a common sustainable pattern, but this is not a rule that applies to every person. [4]
Who should use individualized advice?
This adult tool is not for pregnancy, breastfeeding, children, eating-disorder recovery, medication changes that affect weight, diabetes medication adjustment, kidney disease or other clinical circumstances. It uses no AI, API, quota or saved data, and does not transfer a result into Shelog.

- Mifflin MD et al. (1990). Supports resting-energy estimation, not a personal timeline.
- Hall KD et al. (2011). Supports dynamic energy-balance modelling, not validation of this interface for an individual.
- NIDDK Body Weight Planner. Authoritative example of goal-date planning; it does not endorse Shelog.
